OUTREACH & SUPPORT SERVICES

Our Outreach & Support Services Unit helps individuals and families, during difficult times, to navigate community resources to avoid crises. Our services range from highly involved case coordination to a single visit. Participation is free and voluntary.


SERVICES

  • Must live in Ottawa County or be homeless and seeking permanent residence
  • No cost to the consumer
  • Based on available funding
  • Referrals to community resources
  • Rental housing assistance
  • Career coaching and job search
  • One-time limited utility relief payments
  • Basic Needs (emergency food, medical, dental, mental health)
  • Advocacy and safety planning for survivors of domestic violence
  • Transitional Home (Ruth Ann's House) for women and homeless women with children
  • Support Groups such as Peer-to-Peer, Life Skills, Career, Women's Roundtable
  • Help with completing applications
  • Limited funds to help get eligibility documents (birth certificates, replacement Social Security Cards, identification cards, etc.

Ruth Ann's House

RUTH ANN'S HOUSE

Ruth Ann’s House (RAH) is a transitional communal housing program in Port Clinton, Ohio. RAH's mission is to provide residency and supportive services to women and their children who have escaped an abusive situation. We serve up to six women and their children at one time. Families may stay at RAH for up to two years while focusing on a self-directed plan to address their personal goals. When a waiting list occurs, applicants are prioritized for their safety. Anyone in serious or immediate danger will be referred to a domestic violence shelter.

Our primary goal is to empower women and their families to transition and sustain their permanent and safe housing. RAH provides a variety of self-development and career development sessions, support groups, and nutrition and independent living classes. You do not have to remain a resident of RAH to continue with all groups and support.


Eligibility Requirements:


  • Female
  • Head of household
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Fleeing abuse or homeless/at risk of homelessness
